If they're going to copy the original colors I want the horrible ones too!

I hope that Fantagraphics will ask the Italian publisher Walt Disney Italia to get the original storyboards of stories like "Darkest Africa", "Race to the South Seas" and "Atomb bomb" which are lost in the USA. In Italy where these stories were published the first time in the late 40ies they gave the original version of "Darkest Africa" some years ago in the album Tesori 5 both in Italian and in English and the result was much better than the scans they used in the Egmont albums for the Carl Bark´s Library.

The background color changing is really annoying in "So Far and No Safari" and "The Loony Lunar Gold Rush". I really hope they stick to the 50s color guide.

Did the publisher or Barks himself changed the color guide?

I'm not sure what you mean, so I'll just say this:

In the original American publication, the colours were decided by Western's colourist (as far as I know). Late in life, Barks stated that he back then occasionally would give colour notes... and that the notes routinely would be ignored.

The only time Barks was actively involved in the colouring was when http://coa.inducks.org/issue.php?c=us/USCA++1 was in the works. You can find a colour guide for CS OS 456 in the back of the book.

When The Carl Barks Library in Color came out, Barks commented that he really liked those colours.

And Egmont's Carl Barks Collection was attempted coloured in such a way that it would have appealed to Barks.

Any other colouring or recolouring of Barks's comics was done without Barks's involvement.
