Received "Cities of Gold" yesterday. It's as wonderful as all the previous volumes. My favourite Scrooge-adventures as a kid was always "Philosopher's Stone" and "The Golden Fleecing", so this was perfection for me :)

I would much rather they choose the latter option as I'd like to read these stories in chronological order, rather than jump back and forth between books (I also don't know if a book consisting almost solely of WDC&S ten-pagers would sell well enough on its own - they'll need a solid Scrooge epic to market it behind). Also, "Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge" is enough of an umbrella title to get the other miscellaneous stories in there (Gyro, Grandma Duck, etc.).
I really wish I could get a look at their overall plan for the series but part of the fun is waiting and seeing what comes out next!
I realize I can only speak for myself, but I'd love to see all the original Uncle Scrooge books collected in Uncle Scrooge volumes, each containing 6 issues...like Fantagraphics' "Only a Poor Old Man" and I'm assuming that's what they're doing based on that volume. The Uncle Scrooge title is a very unique, special title and should be honored as such. I will still buy every other Barks volume as well as I am excited to be able to get all of these in such a nice presentation and reading format to enjoy and share with others. I love the WDC&S 10-pagers and would gobble up volumes containing just those. I'll buy anything else, too...Gyro volumes, etc.

I have a pretty good collection of Disney comics (IMHO), including most of both Gladstone 1 and 2 and Disney era and a pretty good amount of '50s and '60s comics, but I still only have 54.3% of Barks stories, 56.4% of Rosa stories, and a paltry 3.9% of Gottfredson stories (according to INDUCKS). There is just so much stuff out there and it's expensive to be a completist in regards to Disney comics, so these Fantagraphics collections present an outstanding opportunity to me to get stuff that I know I will really enjoy and treasure.

It's funny, I like the concept of a world with all anthropomorphic animals, but seeing humans in there has always thrown me.

Someone had asked some months ago if Barks's lone Mickey Mouse story, 'The Riddle of the Red Hat,' would be included in this series. It was actually just included in the most recent Floyd Gottfredson Mickey Mouse daily strip Fantagraphics volume "Lost in Lands Long Ago" so if you are interested in reading it, I'd pick up that book (like the other Mickey volumes, this one is a winner too with a lot of other great stories).
