I got my copy of Uncle Scrooge 1 a couple days ago. The colours are nice. The book has precious little extra articles (but they are "blurbs" about each story and even each 1-page gag-each written by a different commentator). I guess we couldn't have expected the level of extras that come in the European "Carl Barks Collected Works", as the price is so much lower (and gladly so). The book's stories are in chronological order, and the comic book covers are good quality scans from the original books. It's nice to have them. I just wish that they could come out at a rate of 4 per year, rather than two, as I'll be in my late 70s when the series is completed. Same for the Mickey Mouse series.

I noticed Amazon just now temporarily took this off their available list because customers told them there was something wrong with their copies. I wonder what that is? I guess I haven't been in a rush to get this because most of the stories I probably already have in one form or another. It's the less popular stories which will be fresher to me that I'm looking forward to more.

I will buy this because I would like to own the complete set (if I live long enough). I liked all the essays at the end of their first release and I'm sorry to hear there isn't more of that. I'm also hoping they'll reprint the first volume once more corrected with Carl's original Race to the South Seas artwork.

My copy Uncle Scrooge: Only a Poor Old Man for bookdepository.com purchased (for $ 21) was delivered today (Poland).
Comics are arranged in chronological order, "Back to the Klondike" is a 32-page version (draft Jippes is next at articles).
The paper is a little whiter than in the first volume, and a little more thin.

No. It is not "bad". I didn't notice the difference. So, it can't be that bad. I would like to know what is wrong with the copies that people complained about. I didn't notice anything wrong with mine.

Lost in Los Andes is vol. 7, and the next one (A Christmas for Shacktown) will be vol. 11

I just went to a comic book store here in California and purchased this. It is very nicely done just like the first one and I'm totally pleased. If it hadn't been mentioned here I probably wouldn't have noticed the difference in the paper. Even having the first book next to it to compare it's hard to tell. I believe the Uncle Scrooge's paper is just a tiny bit thinner and the slightest bit whiter.

One thing I like a lot better is the one page gag stories are spaced throughout the book instead of all together at the end. This makes it more like the original comics. There's still the pages with story reviews at the end like the first one had which I especially enjoy. Just seeing this in the store, then picking it up in your hand and shuffling through it, immediately brings a smile to your face. "Do you have a bag for this, please?"

I'm a little out of the loop. Are they still doing two per year? Because there is only 4 months between the upcoming releases, which could leave space for three releases per year.
