Too bad we have to wait until June 11th for this one - I consider this circa 1948 work to be some of the best. Sad to think that there are no new comics featuring the standard characters anymore. The Pixar titles Marvel is doing are less than exciting, but I guess its better than nothing.

the next issues will be Donald Duck: Christmas on Bear Mountain - arriving in November.
And there will be a box set collecting Donald Duck: A Christmas for Shacktown and Donald Duck: Christmas on Bear Mountain: Walt Disney's Donald Duck Christmas Gift Box Set Too bad that they don't publish every two books in a box set (like with the Mickey Mouse and Peanuts books).

I was hoping we'd get another Uncle Scrooge book continuing with the next set of Scrooge stories this year. I guess that either the Donald Duck volumes got higher sales, or the people at Fantagraphics want to get the Donald Duck material out there first. Either way, it's hard to complain...I like the Donald Duck stories just as much, and am happy to support this series.

I wish I had known Fantagraphics was going to offer a boxed set before I purchased Christmas for Shacktown. I would have waited and purchased it with Christmas on Bear Mountain in the boxed set.

If we've already bought the first volume of the 2 in the Boxed set, we should be able to buy the box separately, as we can with the Gottfredson Mickey Mouse series. Does anyone know if boxesw will be sold separately?

Certainly seems likely. I'm most curious, though, about when they'll get to some late-fifties/sixties material, and what they'll go with title-wise when they don't have any particularly iconic stories to spotlight.

I hope they publish them both. Especially when it's such a fascinating contrast. Or if they do end up doing an 'appendix' book with the Jr. Woodchucks, King Scrooge the First, etc. that they include the short version there.

Wow, I somehow didn't even realize they were doing it per character like that. What a bafflingly awful way to do it. You'd think this would be a difficult thing to screw up, and yet...
Re "Trick or Treat," one would assume that they'll just go the standard route of printing the unexpurgated version and including the original opening as bonus content, with an explanation of the publication history.

Chronologically by story would have been the best. But as an English reading Disney fan I must be happy that they publish this at all ;-)
